Pastor

Joseph Wright, Jr.

Pastor Joseph, an ordained minister for 30 years, founded Joseph Wright Ministries in 1986.  Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he joined the Air Force and served in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. Following his military discharge, he attended Merced College and California State University Stanislaus majoring in music as a vocalist, percussionist and woodwind instrumentalist.

After giving his life to Jesus, Pastor Joseph left his home in Turlock, California, to oversee and lead the music ministry in a church in Delano, California. He also

directed Valley Leadership Training Center, a four-year ministry Bible college.  Pastor Joseph serves the Delano Police Department (DPD)and the community as DPD Chaplain.  In 1986, God called Pastor Joseph back to the Philippines to establish a teaching and evangelism ministry as well as a multi-faceted ministry with the Philippine National Police covering the entire nation.

In February, 2008, Pastor Joseph submitted to the call of God to establish North Kern Christian Center. On October 11, 2009, Delano Church of the Heartland and NKCC merged to become one ministry. The church works to minister to the local body of Christ and reaching out to the community with the love of Jesus.  NKCC is also restoring and rebuilding this historic church site.

Ministry Director

Kathie Wright

Kathie and her husband, Joseph, have made Delano their home since 1988.  With college majors in both Business Administration and Biblical Studies, Kathie’s professional career encompassed 25 years in Marketing, Public, Physician and Community Relations in the healthcare industry.  Her recent retirement now allows her to serve alongside her husband as the Ministry Director, overseeing the administrative and business functions of the ministry.

Besides having a deep passion for each person in the Body of Christ to have an intimate relationship with Jesus, Kathie has a heart for children.  She works diligently to provide a nurturing environment within the Children and Youth Ministry of NKCC.  The heart of this ministry is to draw each child and young person into their own personal relationship with the Lord.

Administrative Assistant

Elvia Lazo

Every ministry has that one person who is the glue that holds all the pieces together and when a piece is lost they find it.  At NKCC Elvia is that person.  She fulfills the work of the ministry by keeping the Church family informed and up to date on upcoming events.  Postcards, brochures, mailers, and emails keep the membership informed and ready to have moments of ministry and interaction with the NKCC family of faith.

Elvia also keeps everyone on schedule, finds lost papers and items, coordinates gardeners, plumbers and electricians, etc., maintains a “well-oiled” office, all the while fulfilling her gift in ministry teaching nursery and preschool children.
